# Identity assessment — 2026-10-03

## Findings and decisions

The source archive contained a coherent neutral fox, forward chevrons, navy
speed trails, transparent exports, and landing/docs concepts. The profile used
a smaller historical set with no asset catalog. Three SVGs embedded raster images
rather than vector drawing masters. Finder metadata had been committed.

The maintainer selected **Dash** as the character name, the mature developer
collection as the primary identity, and the newly created cute editorial
collection as a secondary option. Both now have a selected welcome master and
reading, guiding, and composing derivatives. Each collection keeps its own face,
proportions, and finish. Earlier profile imagery remains documented in the archive.

The maintainer subsequently selected logo direction **F**: a fox signature with
“Fast” in orange `#FF641B`, plus monochrome of the same drawing. The final local
kit has eight native SVG exports and an editable source/generator. Exo 2 Italic,
version 2.010, weight 900 provides the outlined lettering; the official font and
OFL 1.1 notice are pinned with source hashes. Interface typography remains on the
system-font tokens. This selection does not imply external publication.

The expanded audit inspected 19 local image paths / 16 distinct contents and
public default-branch trees. Fourteen package sources were curated: three match
pinned public commits (`framework`, `dev-tools`, `enum`), one is tracked on a
local task branch (`agents`), and ten were locally supplied untracked files
including `event-dispatcher` and `fork`. Local checkout HEAD does not imply that
an untracked file exists in that commit. The manifest records this distinction.

| Family | Observation | Decision |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Developer | Upright body, longer muzzle, polished dimensional fur/cloth, purple hoodie and warm eyes | Main Dash identity for packages, documentation and default institutional use. |
| Newly authored editorial | Rounder face, larger eyes, compact proportions, painted brown contours, purple hoodie | Secondary welcome/community/softer institutional collection. |
| Package banners | Thirteen hoodie compositions and one older flat framework banner | Costume/context evidence, not interchangeable character masters or API facts. |
| Older cute source-pack exports | Different face and mixed lockup interpretations | Seven promoted exports archived in local ignored backup, hashes verified before removal. |
| Selected F signature | Native fox geometry and Exo 2 outlined lettering; light/dark/color/monochrome applications | Current logo system. Master is `assets/brand/logo-source.json`; eight exports come from `scripts/build-brand-logos.php`. |
| Retired logos and compact chevrons | Earlier identity interpretations and unrecorded legacy lettering | Removed from the visible kit; provenance remains in ignored backup and `archived_sources`. |

Cleaned PNGs have true alpha; their supplied bytes and padding were preserved.
The new dark-surface SVG signature has light lettering, and ink/white monochrome
exports cover single-color applications. Thirteen remaining package source
illustrations provide historical provenance and costume context; they are not
logo masters or the visible brand gallery. Two retain verified public pins
(`dev-tools`, `enum`); eleven have explicit local provenance. The older framework
banner's public pin remains in the archive metadata.

The archived icon sprite is vector geometry, but third-party marks have no
recorded rights or attribution. Its CSS named a nonexistent image; that URL
was repaired with the transformation recorded in the manifest. Website concepts
contain unverified APIs, metrics, versions, dependency claims, and a license
footer. None were promoted into product facts.

## Delivered foundation

DESIGN.md, STYLE.md, and SOUL.md define one identity contract. The manifest identifies
reusable exports, references, package costumes, and legacy URLs.
The visual specimen shows eight reference poses and light/navy contexts.
The documentation pattern supplies reusable CSS and an executable reading layout;
the logo board presents the selected F signature and its applications. The vector
source and standard-library generator reproduce the eight SVGs without a runtime
font dependency. A portable dash-art skill routes production to the current masters. Token exports
let future interfaces consume the same values. Portable validation checks
delivered bytes, metadata, coverage, and SVG safety.

Community defaults cover contribution, support, conduct, security, accessibility,
and issue/review preparation, with repository overrides. Private vulnerability
reporting was observed disabled here; the policy explains how to request a
private route without publishing vulnerability details. No contact or SLA was
invented. Finder metadata was removed and ignored. Profile surfaces use the
current logo and approved Dash references; the unrelated local social preview
was preserved. The shared-workflow issue
and PR remain outside this change.

## Next artwork work

1. Inspect the selected fox mark at actual small consumer sizes before delivering
a favicon or launcher icon. The native master is complete; optical small-size
applications still need their own review.
2. Produce deliberate developer and editorial model/expression sheets: front,
profile, back and additional expressions. The delivered pose references do
not prove hidden anatomy; new views need review as derivatives.
3. Normalize future package illustrations around the developer master, warm eyes,
markings, and costume rules. Update packages through their own PRs rather
than silently rewriting released artwork across repositories.
4. Resolve remaining historical artwork authorship, generator/source details,
and reuse terms. The selected lettering's font provenance and license are recorded.
Replace third-party icon approximations with documented upstream assets if
they are needed for a production interface.

## Future website implementation

Build a small static landing/docs experience from the documented patterns once
the real navigation, package states, installation API, and publication target
are defined. Start with readable installation, a package grid, and actual
repository links. Check keyboard navigation, mobile layout, contrast, selectable
code, and reduced motion in the implemented page.

The specimen is a local design artifact. The [Pages setup guide](pages.md)
documents the publication workflow and prerequisites. Local preparation does
not prove a deployed website, replace package artwork, or change organization settings.

## Production package responsibility

The supplied bootstrap remains the instruction authority; this repository has
no scoped AGENTS contracts. The new `skills/dash-art/SKILL.md` owns the portable
artwork procedure, with linked prompt/receipt and example-brief resources.
README navigation leads to the package. No host skill installation or agent
configuration was changed. Rollback removes the package and its navigation
together; the asset contracts remain in the root identity documents.
